2023 Boat Parade Winner

2023 Boat Parade Winner

JOHNS LAKE HOLIDAY 2023 BOAT PARADE – GRAND PRIZE WINNER!

It was VERY difficult to choose a winner this year. We had so many beautifully decorated boats!

The winner’s patriotic spirit was on full display with their decor, featuring a large American Flag displayed in lights. A photo of the boat appears in this post. Unfortunately, it’s not the best picture but for those who watched the parade in person, you’ll remember how great the boat looked!

Congratulations to Robi and Lisa Zaldeti!! This is the first year they have participated in the parade and they enjoyed it immensely. And they said “we’ll be back next year” which we love to hear!

The winning boat will receive a full boat detail from Tommy’s of Clermont. They have been a sponsor and friend of JLA for many years, and we appreciate their support very much!

And this post can’t be without a BIG THANK YOU to all the boaters who came out this year. Your boats looked amazing and all of us watching the parade were very appreciative of your hard work. And to top it off, the wind and choppy waters did not make it an easy ride so on behalf of JLA and all the residents around the lake who enjoyed the parade WE THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

All of the road signs were picked up. We appreciate you leaving them at the neighborhood entrances for two weeks, given we had to reschedule.
We look forward to our parade again next year and in the interim, we wish you a very merry holiday season and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Boat Parade Changed to Dec 17, 2023

Boat Parade Changed to Dec 17, 2023

The Johns Lake Boat Parade Has Been Moved to December 17th.

Due to the weather forecast, we have changed the date of the parade to Sunday, December 17th. The current forecast for Sunday evening Dec 10th is thunderstorms with 15-20 MPH winds so we’d like to keep everyone safe and dry!

The parade route and start time of the parade will remain the same. We will do our best to update the road signs over the next 48 hours, but if you see a sign that has Dec 10th, please know that is an old version and it is not correct.

Happy Boating,

Rick Stuebing
President Johns Lake Association

22nd Annual Johns Lake Holiday Boat Parade (2022)

22nd Annual Johns Lake Holiday Boat Parade (2022)

UPDATE
Johns Lake Holiday Boat Parade December 11, 2022

Parade Participant Instructions

The event will be held on Sunday, December 11th at 6:15pm. Come out and decorate your boat with lights/holiday décor and join in the fun!
All boats participating should gather by 6:10pm in the NW corner of Johns Lake; otherwise known as Clear Lake (see route map for exact location). THIS IS SAME MEETING LOCATION FROM LAST YEAR.  Please do your best to “line-up” and be prepared for departure promptly at 6:15pm.

There will be a boat manned by JLA who will motor alongside the parade to help maintain distance and speed. This boat is equipped with a bull-horn and if we see “gaps” in the parade, this vessel will ask you to speed up (or slow down), so we can maintain a proper distance so the viewing is the best it can be from the shoreline.

As always, there will be a lead boat who will start the parade by blasting an air-horn several times. I’d like to give a big SHOUT-OUT and THANK YOU to the Megler family, who have led this parade for many years. We appreciate you!!

All boats should follow in-line and slowly head east. The parade route will follow the northern, eastern, and southern shores of Johns Lake (from Johns Lake Landing in Lake County to Twinwaters in Orange County, where parade ends). The parade will take about 2 hours to complete. Please see the Parade Route Map.

IMPORTANT: Please see the updated parade route map and notice the areas highlighted in yellow. In these two canals, some of the docks are very close to being underwater so we must GO SLOW WITH NO WAKE in these areas in order to be respectful of those homeowners. In all other areas of the lake, there is not a “no-wake” requirement and we ask all boaters to keep a safe distance between boats but not allow for big “gaps” to occur.
If this is your first time decorating your boat for a parade, here are a few tips:
Christmas lights run on 120v AC and are designed to operate from your home electrical current. To operate lights on your boat, you will need to purchase a DC to AC power inverter. Power inverters are available at most auto parts stores, Wal-Mart, and Harbor Freight. Power inverters convert your boat’s 12v DC power to 120v AC. Inverters do have a limit as to how much power they can generate from your boat’s DC battery. Inverters are rated by watts; the more watts the inverter can handle, the more lights you can put on your boat. Most power inverters above 150 watts will need to be connected directly to your boat’s battery terminals to provide full power as 12v outlet plugs (cigarette lighters) are power limited by a fuse.

Use of LED lights provide the ability to power many more lights than incandescent lights. A 300 watt power inverter connected directly to your battery could power over 600 LED lights as opposed to 60 incandescent lights! Be careful though, as some units will overheat if too much load is placed on them. Test your lights for a period of time before the parade starts. Make sure you use UL approved outdoor lights as the lights on your boat may get wet and you do not want to cause a fire or shock someone on your boat!

 Original post:

Johns Lake Association is happy to announce that the 22nd annual JOHNS LAKE HOLIDAY BOAT PARADE will be held on Sunday, December 11th, beginning at 6:15pm at the NW Corner of the lake.

Over the last year, we’ve had a lot of activity around the lake and have seen many new homeowners join our community, so for those who have not yet experienced the annual parade, GET READY, you’re in for a fantastic holiday experience!

We typically have approximately 40 boats participate, each decorated with colorful lights and teaming with holiday spirit. So please mark your calendars for Sunday, December 11th and join us for all the fun!

JOHNS LAKE BOAT PARADE 2022 – PARADE ROUTE

As you’ll see on the parade map below, we have done everything possible to ensure we are motoring past all the densely populated areas on the lake. It’s difficult to include ALL the shoreline each year, as this current route takes nearly two-hours to complete and for the boaters, that is the maximum amount of time we can expect them to stay in the parade without needing a break!

If you don’t see the parade coming by your house this year, please know the Association looks at our changing community and makes adjustments to the route every few years, to try and accommodate everyone.

We just won’t be able to please everyone, every year! Two hours is all we can ask from the boaters, particularly since many include their children/families on the ride.

Enjoy the parade this year and they’ll be more posts to follow leading up to the parade!

JOHNS LAKE BOAT PARADE – THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!!!

Johns Lake Association is a non-profit organization, and the parade would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. I’d like to give a big THANK YOU to all of our sponsors!

Tommy’s (Clermont) – Tommy’s has been a sponsor for many years, helping us produce the road signs, the graphics and also providing the grand prize “A FULL BOAT DETAIL”. More detail to come on how to win this amazing prize!

Yellow Dog Eats! This fabulous restaurant has been a friend and sponsor of the parade for many years, and without their funding, it would be difficult to put on this event. We thank Yellow Dog Eats for their continued support!!

Carr’s Flooring America – This incredible company has sponsored the prizes for the parade over the years, which would not have been possible without their help. Thank you to Carr’s Flooring American for being an enthusiastic supporter of this event! We appreciate you!

3rd Prize – $50 cash

All boats wishing to participate for prizes MUST register their boat IN ADVANCE of the parade to qualify. Final judging will take place at the last quarter mile of the parade route.

Here is the registration link.

If you do not live on the lake and are looking for a public place to view the parade, here are a few options:

  1. The Public Boat Ramp on Johns Lake located at 13620 Lake Blvd., Winter Garden, FL 34787 (north shore of Johns Lake, off of Hwy. 50 at the Lake/Orange County line. Although the parade will not go directly by the boat ramp this year, it could still be viewed here from a distance.

  2. For Public Road Viewing you can view the parade in Johns Lake Landing Subdivision at the
intersection of Willow Hills Ln and Good Hearth Blvd, located on the Clermont side of Johns Lake. There are also a number of Empty Lots along Secret Hollow Loop and Hickory Wind Drive, further in that subdivision.

If there are any other public viewing areas of the lake you are aware of, please post those on the
Facebook Page @JohnsLakeImprovementAssociation. We’d love to hear about more viewing
areas that may be available so please put up those posts!!

IMPORTANT: Please don’t forget to register for the parade. Even if you’re not entering the parade for prizes, it is extremely helpful to the event organizers to know how many boats will be participating.

2020 Johns Lake Holiday Boat Parade

2020 Johns Lake Holiday Boat Parade

The annual Johns Lake Boat Parade was held on December 13th, 2020, and was a fun night for all! There were forty-four (44) boats who participated in the parade and we had many, many viewers from the shoreline who made their presence known by clapping and cheering on the boats. A big thank you to all those on the shore who showed their appreciation as the boats passed by! It really energizes the boaters to know you’re out there enjoying the parade.

And a BIG THANK YOU to all the boat owners who put so much time and creativity into making their boats look festive and bright! The parade included a wide array of decor themes and the judging panel had a very difficult time choosing our First, Second, and Third prize winners last year. We’d like to thank Tommy’s Florida (in Clermont) for sponsoring our event and providing our Grand Prize; a complete boat detail! The additional winners received cash prizes from the JLIA association, responsible for hosting the event.

#1 Grand Prize winner went to the Deryk Family

Their boat was uniquely decorated in a patriotic theme and the American Flag was the prominent feature. It was an unexpected display and made for a very beautiful and heartwarming show of lights!

#2 Prize Winner: The Carr Family

Their boat was not only beautiful on the outside but it was the participants on the boat and the interactive nature of their display that won the hearts of the judges. The boat had an overabundance of “Christmas spirit” on display!

#3 Prize Winner: The Galagher Family

Their boat was a true masterpiece of lighting, complete with the “Grinch who Stole Christmas” on full display. The boat was colorful, brought a smile to your face, and was a true showstopper

We look forward to hosting the Johns Lake Boat Parade again in December 2021. More details will be coming by early summer so keep your eye on:

See you on the water!!!
